1. Exam Overview

The SSC CHSL (Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam is conducted for recruitment to various posts such as Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in government offices. The exam is conducted in three tiers: Tier-I (Preliminary), Tier-II (Mains), and Tier-III (Skill Test/Typing Test).

SSC CHSL Exam Syllabus

Tier-I (Preliminary Exam):

• General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, coding-decoding, series, blood relations, direction sense, order and ranking, puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogism, etc.
• General Awareness: Current events, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, and scientific research.
• Quantitative Aptitude: Number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, time and distance, time and work, mensuration, data interpretation, etc.
• English Language: Reading comprehension, cloze test, synonyms, antonyms, spellings, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, sentence correction, error spotting, etc.

Tier-II (Mains Exam):

• Descriptive Paper: Essay writing and letter/application writing in English or Hindi.
