SSC MTS Exam Overview

The SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for recruitment to various posts in government offices. The exam is conducted in two stages: Paper-I (Preliminary) and Paper-II (Mains).


SSC MTS Exam Syllabus

Paper-I (Preliminary Exam):

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, and scientific research.
  • Numerical Aptitude: Number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work, etc.
  • English Language: Basics of English language, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and its correct usage, writing ability, etc.

Paper-II (Mains Exam):

  • Descriptive Paper: Short essay or letter writing in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution.

  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: 18-25 years (age relaxation as per government norms)
  • Educational Qualification: 10th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
